I recently found Artist Rising, and it seems to be a great selling venue for artists. It is like an international online gallery for fine art and photography, which offers original artwork, prints and limited edition works for immediate sale. Buyers could browse by subject, medium and tags. Subjects include abstract, botanical, places, animals, architecture, astronomy, dance, music, movies, food, religion and philosophy, etc. The site is aimed to real people, from different walks of life, who are looking for artwork by contemporary artists to use for decorating their homes, offices and studios.Membership
You need to be at least 18 years of age in order to become an Artist Rising member artist. One you have joined the site, you could easily build your online gallery, adding an artist biography and statement, as well as information about your past and upcoming shows.
Signing up is free of charge, and you could choose between a free and a premium membership. The annual premium account costs $50 and allows you to upload up to 2000 images and use the Print-On-Demand option for both posters and fine art prints. With free membership you could upload 50 images and offer posters only.
Print-On-Demand
The Print-on-Demand program makes it easy for artists to generate revenue from their artwork by offering art for sale without an excessive and expensive investment in time, money or inventory.
Once you set up your artwork for Print-on-Demand, your art is primed and ready for printing and sale the moment it’s ordered by customers. In this way, it can generate sales far into the future with no further action by the artist. Members earn royalties on Print sales. All members receive a 15% royalty on the sale of each print.
All images submitted for Print-on-Demand are subject to review and approval to confirm their compliance with Artist Rising's Content Policy.
Selling originals
From member galleries, all prospective buyers of original art are directed to the individual artist to discuss the sale (via a blind email link, so the artist's personal email address is never posted publicly). Thereafter, all sales, shipments and deliveries are fully transacted between the artist and the prospective buyer.
What I really like, is that the creator receives 100% of the proceeds on the sale of any original work.
